About the Embassy

The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Brussels was established in 1950, following the  recognition of Indonesia's independence by Belgium in 1949. The first Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia was Anak Agung Gede Agung, who held the office from 1950 to 1953.

The Mission of the Republic of Indonesia to the European Community was officially established on 18  August 1990 with the enactment of Decree of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Number 35 of 1990.

Starting from 1 January 2006, the two Indonesian Diplomatic Mission were merged into the Embassy  of the Republic of Indonesia accredited to the Kingdom of Belgium, the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg and the European Union.
